Masterlist of all my fics [05 May 2015|11:50pm]
My Masterlist of Lucius/Hermione fics

Edited: 20/02/09 - with a masterlist of my Lucius/Hermione fics. I haven't updated the main list with most of the fics I've written in the past few months though so if you'd like to look at those, please browse through my journal. Fics aren't locked.

The lengths of the fics are noted. So are the ships. Most of my HP drabbles can be found here or here

Fics for the fandoms other than Harry Potter are in (mostly) chronological order from when I posted them. Therefore the latest fics will be down the bottom.

Do tell me if there's anything missing or any broken links.

Obligatory statement [06 Nov 2011|11:49am]
Friends-only as of 06/11/08

All fic posts will be public. I currently write in the HP, SGA, Monk, NCIS and Doctor Who fandoms. This list is likely going to grow in the near future. I'm in the process of consolidating my fics into one post and tagging all of my fic posts. Most of my HP fic is here.

Comment to be added.

What you will find in this journal: RL stuff, book reviews, fic musings, politics and possibly meta. As well as anything else I feel like writing about.

For any of you guys who are interested, over at [info]azkatrazathome, everybody is currently in the process of writing the most awesome HP fic ever! It's a team effort. And it's so much fun! I know because I just wrote the second chapter. The rules. Chapter 1. Chapter 2.

Come over and play! I want to know where this story is going!

*pimp*

[info]bb_and_ww, where you get to write about your favourite "disliked, anti-heroic, monstrous and villainous characters."

I've submitted a prompt. Chances are nobody will write it, but I can hope, can't I? *g* Will submit more later once I've come up with them.

I have so many unfinished stories, fic exchanges to write for, big bangs to write for, fic exchanges to wrap up and other fandom things.

Except, right now, all I want to do is write hot Andalite hate!sex, involving tail blades.

*ahem*

Title: Watching
Fandom: Star Trek
Rating: G
Summary: "Spock finds himself watching himself."
Author Notes This ficlet ignores the last tiny bit of the recent movie. Also, I know next to nothing about any of the other movies or TV series so this could be totally inaccurate. I also suspect nobody will read this. *g* So it doesn't matter.

On Thoughtful Reviews

I think this is something that many of us find difficult, myself included! There are many types of reviews. I think most of us can agree that we are all irked by the kind of review that goes: "UPDATE NOW!" They're especially useless when they're on a one-shot fic.

But all reviews are great. As an author, I love all reviews. But I have to admit, some reviews are better than others.

I know everybody loves to get those deep thoughtful reviews that make you smile and show the reader has actually read and engaged with the fic. It's lovely. However, those reviews are very difficult to write. I know, sometimes when I'm faced with a beautiful long fic, I end up thinking "oh god, the only thing I can say is SQUEE I LOVE IT." However, that's really not the most useful thing to say and when it's twentieth in a long line of reviews that say the exact same thing, sometimes I end up not posting at all.

Now, that's a terrible habit. I know it is. And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person who does it!

Now, I'd love to write 'thoughtful' reviews for people. I think the following are some possible ways of going about it:

- You could think of your favourite scenes of the fic. Obviously this doesn't work if the fic is a drabble or a very short ficlet, but for anything over 1000 words, you should have a favourite scene. Then you could explain why you liked the scene. For example: if the scene had Harry talking to Snape about his Potions homework, you could describe how you enjoyed how snarky the author made Snape, or the description of the room or the really hot smut at the end of the scene!
- Or, an easier way to go about it would be to write down what you think as you go along. I know a lot of people (me included) love to read reviews that describe how much they like the fic as they're reading. You could quote some of your favourite bits of the fic.
- You could discuss the theme of the fic. For example, if the fic deals with a deep and meaningful theme, you could write a mini-essay on it. Remember in high school when you had to write essays and commentaries on novels? You could do that for fic as well! Remember how teachers told you to analyse people's use of similes and metaphors.

I'm sure there are other ways as well. I think central to writing a thoughtful review is to think of why you love the story and to write more than a few words. Obviously, not all fics need really long reviews. I'd be astonished if somebody wrote a hugely long review to a drabble, but if it's a novella length review and you liked it, then I think it's good to tell the author why you liked it!

I know it's sometimes difficult to put *squee* in words, but it's worth it. Sometimes you end up being friends with the author! I know I've ended up with some great friends by writing deep and thoughtful reviews. I've also become friends with people who have written me those types of reviews.

I figure, if you like the fic, you should review. And if you review, then you should try to express what you feel about the fic and why you feel that way.

For one thing, it'll probably encourage the author to write more fic in that pairing/genre!

Oh gosh. I'm tempted. I stopped myself from signing up for the Severus Big Bang. I used to love writing Ginny fic.

I shouldn't though.

BUT YOU GUYS SHOULD! *pokes*

*points to icon*

That is the extent of my icon making skillz.

I think we can all conclude that I fail at this, yes?

I'm also fairly sure somebody much more skilled than me has used the exact same picture to make an icon. So I doubly fail, yes? *g*

I want to write something for [info]anomalyexchange (for those who don't know, I'm the mod) as a sort of thing for the community. Except I'm sort of flipping through everybody's prompts and I can't think of anything that will suit everybody! So I was thinking, maybe of writing something dark and angsty and then writing another fic that's more happy and romance-like.

Hmm. Do people think it's a good idea?
